IdaTech's iGen™ fuel cell system was developed to provide a portable power source for industrial and consumer applications. The iGen™ fuel cell system is a self-contained system combining a fuel processor with proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell stack, power electronics and controls to create a fully integrated portable power solution.

The iGen™ system allows quiet, efficient battery charging in stand alone or hybrid configurations for a variety of applications. Through constant battery monitoring, the iGen™ system senses low battery voltage and automatically starts up to recharge the batteries and power the load. Upon recharge, the system returns to the stand-by state.

The industrial version of the iGen™ is appropriate for any battery charging application sited at a remote or off-grid location that might require dependable backup power from a compact source.

The consumer iGen™ battery charger will provide battery charging in a number of leisure applications, such as sailboats and recreational vehicles. The methanol-water fuel mixture, quiet operation and compact construction make the system an ideal renewable energy source for these uses.
