About Bend, OR
A Bit About BendWith just more than 80,000 residents, Bend is the largest Oregon town east of the Cascade Mountains. It is also one of the fastest growing communities in the West, a testament to the region's many qualities.
Bend is tucked aside the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Canoeists, kayakers and white water rafters enjoy the myriad of rivers and high-altitude lakes fed by crystal-clear mountain snow. Deschutes River, which flows through the heart of town, is renowned for both trout fishing and rafting.
Dozens of alpine lakes and uncounted miles of hiking, riding and biking trails provide nearly limitless outdoor summertime recreation. Mount Bachelor Ski Resort, located mere minutes from the city, as well as the millions of acres of open forests, make Central Oregon a mecca for winter sports.
Bend also offers growing opportunities for higher education. For the college-bound, Bend is host to Oregon State University's Cascades Campus, Central Oregon Community College and a number of private colleges, trade and technical schools.
